In 2025, Beijing’s tourism sector is embracing innovation. Following the launch of the “Beijing New Discoveries” top 10 themed routes in June, the city’s culture, tourism, and industry authorities are now jointly advancing a broader and more in-depth vision for industrial tourism.
Responding to Trends: From 10 Routes to 30 Demonstration Sites
As travelers increasingly seek personalized and in-depth experiences, one of the featured routes—“Future Meets Tradition: Urban Renewal Journey”—integrates industrial heritage with modern lifestyle attractions, including landmarks such as Shougang Park.

Beijing has now established three batches of 30 industrial tourism demonstration sites, ranging from the 798·751 Art Zone and Beijing Erguotou Liquor Museum to Xiaomi’s EV factory and the Robot World. Together, they showcase a full spectrum from traditional craftsmanship and industrial heritage to advanced manufacturing and technological innovation.
Mapping the Future: Five Key Themes
According to the Beijing Industrial Tourism Development Plan (2025–2027), the city will focus on five major themes:
l Super Factories
l Fashion Frontiers
l Urban Renewal
l Craftsmanship Heritage
l Industrial Memory
These themes form a comprehensive “industrial tourism blueprint” with distinctive Beijing characteristics.
Examples include:
l Visiting Xiaomi’s EV factory to witness high-speed smart manufacturing
l Experiencing immersive sci-fi attractions at Shougang Park
l Exploring the 600-year-old cloisonné craftsmanship at the Beijing Enamel Factory

Immersive Experiences: 10 Pilot Routes
In September, Beijing launched 10 industrial and technology-themed travel routes. Visitors can explore sites such as the Beijing Satellite Manufacturing Center, birthplace of China’s first satellite “Dongfanghong-1,” or enjoy robot-powered dining experiences at Robot World.
Looking Ahead: A New “Beijing Memory”
From themed routes in June to new tech routes in September and a network of 30 demonstration sites by November, Beijing is expanding beyond its traditional attractions. Industrial tourism is becoming a new highlight, connecting history with the future and blending production with everyday life.
This “future blueprint” shows that Beijing’s appeal lies not only in its historic architecture, but also in revitalized industrial spaces and cutting-edge technological experiences.
Visitors can explore the latest updates on shopping, dining, events, and transportation through platforms such as Discover Beijing, Visit Beijing, and Beijing Tourism.
